A word from the President
Madam, Sir,
IPEC: These initials may mean something to you. They evoke pain and suffering but also hope and disease remission. You have benefited from an IPEC treatment for a peritoneal mesothelioma or a pseudomyxoma peritonei in a health care service. These diseases are rare and often misknown and we have decided to fight them by creating an association of patients, patient families, doctors and other health care professionals.
AMARAPE (Association against the Rare Diseases of the Peritoneum) is a non-profit association created in 2007 following the initiative of patients who have benefited from an intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy. It has several objectives:
• Provide information to the public, medical professionals and social & sanitary authorities, with the aim to improve the diagnosis and recognition of rare peritoneal tumors;
• Facilitate equal access to treatment in centers of reference and an appropriate medical care management for all patients suffering from rare peritoneal tumors in the territory.
• Contribute to medical research efforts and to the improvement of health care practices of rare peritoneal tumors.
To reach these objectives and to make our association know and recognized, we need your help. If you wish to get out from your isolation and fight this disease, you could join the AMARAPE association together with members of your family (costs: 20 euros per member).
